Mayorkun who was born Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel on 23rd March 1994, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, pianist and dancer whose musical career saw the light of day after he release he cover of Davido’s song titled “The Money” and was discovered by him.
He was signed to Davido’s record label, DMW in 2016 where he released his debut single titled “Eleko”.

Is Mayorkun still signed to DMW?
No, Mayorkun is no longer signed to DMW, he left the record label in 2021 after his record contract with the label expired.
The CEO of DMW, Davido was the one who released a the first statement about Mayorkun’s exit from his record label during the launching of his new album titled “Back In Office”.
Mayorkun also did not take long to confirm that his contract in DMW lasted between 2016 through 2021 where he announced his departure from the record label.
After his departure from DMW, Mayorkun went on to release a hit single titled “Let Me Know” and immediately followed it with the “back In Office” album which was released under Sony Music West Africa.
Mayorkun’s achievements in DMW.
As we said earlier, Mayorkun was discovered by Davido himself after he released a cover for his hit song “The Money”.
After following Mayorkun on Instagram and Twitter, Davido jokingly asked him if he could do more than play the keyboard, and Mayorkun responded by sending Davido some of the song he already recorded, and after listening to them Davido immediately signed him to his imprint.
In 2016, Mayorkun released his break out single titled “Eleko” and the song debuted at No. 9 on the Nigerian PlayData charts on 1st May 2016, and by 28th May it climbed to the No. 5 spot.
Mayorkun followed the release of Eleko with a music video which had a million views in just 10 days after it’s release.
On the 16th of November 2018, Mayorkun released his first studio album under the DMW imprint and the album was titled “The Mayor Of Lagos”.
While staying at DMW, Mayorkun has released several other singles which includes Yawa, Sade, Che Che, and Mama.
