Tems was born Temilade Openiyi on 11 June 1995 and she is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer.
The artists rose to limelight in the Nigerian music industry after being featured on Wizkid’s 2020 hit single titled “Essence” which peaked at number 9 on the Billboard hot 100 chart after the remix version featuring Juston Bieber was released.
That same year the song earned her a Grammy award nomination and a collaboration with Canadian rapper musically known as Drake.
In 2020, the talented singer dropped her debut EP titled “For Broken Ears” and followed it up in 20021 with another Ep titled “If Orange Was A Placce”.
Following all these notable successes and many more, she was lucky enough to sign a record deal 2021 and it is the record label she is currently signed to that we are going to reveal in this post.

Which record label is Tems signed to in 2025?
Tems is currently signed to RCA Records in this 2025 and she also has a distribution deal with Since 93 and Leading Vibes record labels.
After being signed to RCA Records in 2021, Tems would go on to drop her second EP titled “If Orange Was A Place”. The following year, American born rapper, Future sampled Tems vocals from her song “Higher’ on his hit single “Wait For U” and this led to her being credited as a featured artist alongside Drake on the song.
The song would go on to be debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 and this made her to become the first African artist to be debuted at NO. 1 and the second artist from Nigeria to top the chart.
She would also go on to win a Grammy award for Best Melodic Rap Performance the song.
In July 20022, Tems did a cover for Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry” which was used as a soundtrack on the movie Black Panther: Wakanda, and in the same month her hit single ‘Free Mind” which came from her debut EP titled “For Broken Ears” debuted on the Billboard hot 100, peaking at NO 46 and breaking the record for the longest chartinh NO 1 song on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
Tems has collaborated with lots of international artists including co-writing and rendering background vocals on Rihanna’s song ‘Lift Me Up’. This song earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, and the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media
Last year, precisely 2024, Tems released her debut studio album which she titled “Born In The Wild” and the album reached the top 30 in the Netherlands, Switzerland and United Kingdom where it peaked at No 24.
Tems received three nominations at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Global Music Album, “Burning” for Best R&B song and won “Love Me JeJe” for Best African Music Performance. Tems has finally become the first Nigerian artist to win multiple Grammy Awards.
