Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe who is musically known as Ayra Starr was born on June 14, 2022 and she is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who came into limelight after releasing her hit single titled “Rush’ in 2022.
The song stayed on top of the charts around Ireland, Switzerland and United Kingdom where it was peaked at number 24. Aside from topping charts, the song also helped her to be nominated in the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for Best African Music Performance.
Before she came into the Nigerian music mainstream, she had already begun her career in 2021 with the release of her debut EP titled “Away” which peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard top triller global chart as well as spent 2 weeks peaking at No. 4 on the Nigeria’s TurTable Top 50 chart.
In the same year, i.e. 2021, she followed up her debut EP with the release of a studio album which she titled “19 & Dangerous”.
Her album was placed under the Afropop and R7B genre and was lined among the top 40 hits in Nigeria.
The lead single off the album which was titled “Bloody Samaritan” was peaked at the top 50 char and became the first solo song by a female artist to reach the number 1 spot. In August of the same year, she was ranked No. 3 at the Billboard’s Next Big Sound.

Nigerian female artists Ayra Starr is currently signed to Mavin Records where she was discovered in 2019 after thousands of people including Mavi record label CEO, Don Jazzy listened to an original song titled “Damage” which she uploaded on her Instagram handle.
In 2020 precisely, Ayra Starr would begin recording in The Mavin recording studio with producers like Don Jazzy and Louddaaa.
On January 22, 2021, Ayra Starr released her self-titled debut EP under the Mavin records imprint and according to Wikipedia, the album was described as “a topsy-turvy chronicle of love or love-themed situations” and “merges elements of R&B/neo-soul with Afropop percussion.”
The mixing and mastering of the EP was done by top music producers in Nigeria like Ikon, Louddaaa and Johnny Drille. It is also said that Ayra Starr wrote only one song in the EP and co-wrote the rest with her brother Dami.
Shortly after its release the EP became the No. 1 album in Nigeria iTunes and Apple Music.
Due to the success if the EP, Ayra Starr would go on to release remix versions of her songs “Ija” and “Away” featuring Tokimonsta and Lilo respectively.
In April of 2021,she would go on to release the official music video for her song “DITR” on Mavin records YouTube channel.
