Nigerian sensational afrobeats singer who goes by the name Asake has begun his career in music as an independent artist in 2025 by previewing a new single.

The Grammy-nominated star took to his Instagram account on January 11, 2025, to tease the song which he titles ‘Why Love’.

After dropping the video, thousands of his fans on the social platform took to the comment section to express their eagerness to see the singer dropping the single in no time.

The video also incited conversations on the singers newly acquired tatoos, especially the ones on his face, coupled with the looks that shows him to have lost some weight, while appearing to be pushing his eccentric fashion to new heights with a ripped T-shirt.

The upcoming single is expected to drop and it marks Asake’s first release of 2025 after he shared the music video for his single ‘Whine’ featuring Brazilian star Ludmilla off his third album ‘Lungu Boy’.

I feel like this new single is Asake’s way of starting his musical career after parting ways with his record label YBNL. Despite not confirming his split from the label, Asake has removed all markers of YBNL from his Instagram, which is common practice for artists who have parted ways from their labels.
