After ending his two year contract with Aristokrat Records, owned by Piriye ‘Peedi Picasso’ Isokrari in June 2014, Burna Boy announced the launch of his own record label known as Spaceship Records on February 18, 2015.
As we allll know, no record label can function without having artists who will be making songs to enable the record label succeed as a business entity. For that reason I am going to reveal to you in this post the artists who are signed to Burna Boy record label known as Spaceship Records.
So without any waste of time let us get started.
Burna Boy record label members.
As announced by Burna Boy’s mother who happens to be his music manager, the members of Burna Boy record label are: Burna Boy, Bose Ogulu, Ronami Ogulu, Ronke Ogunmakin, Ella Bimpe, Leriq, Telz, Nissi and Buju.
Each of this members have their respective roles as we are going to see below.
1. Burna Boy.
Burna Boy serves as the founder, CEO as well as a recording artists in Spaceship records.
2. Bose Ogulu.
Bose Ogulu is actually Burna Boy’s biological mother and her role in spaceship records are the executive, Burna Boy’s personal manager and languages professional.
She was the one that took to her Instagram handle to reveal all the members of Burna Boy record label that we have seen here.
Bose Ogulu was also one of the executive producers on Burrna Boy’s Twice As Tall album alongside P.Diddy (Sean Combs) and she says that “The objective of Spaceship Collective is to support the creation of great, timeless, authentic music and to ensure that African creatives maintain control of their own narrative while they tell the world their story. It is important that their catalogues are managed by Africans who are better placed to understand their Art, their narrative and their trajectory”.
3. Ronami Ogulu.
Ronami Ogulu is Burna Boy’s sister and her role in spaceship records is the Creative/Branding Executive as well as a Stylist.
4. Ronke Ogunmakin.
Ronke Ogunmakin is the one who heads the administration of the record company.
5. Ella Bimpe.
Ella Bimpe serves as the creative and branding assistant of Spaceship Record label.
6. Leriq.
Leriq is experienced in-house producer of Spaceship Record label and alongside Telz they are dubbed “Spaceship’s RocketBoyz”, and they have both worked with Burna Boy on several of his projects.
Leriq is the only producer who produced all the songs on the Burna Boy’s acclaimed ‘Redemption’ EP so there is no way Brna Boy would have left him out as a member of his record label. He was the one who produced some of the standout songs from Burna Boy’s Twice As Tall’ album: ‘No Fit Vex’, ‘Way Too Big’, Monsters You Made ft Chris martin.
7. Telz
Alongside Leriq as we mentioned above, Telz is also an in-house producer of spaceship record label and he was the one who produced ‘Wonderful’, which was the lead single of Burna Boy’s Twice As Tall album, ‘Onyeka’, ‘Wonderful’, ‘Naughty By Nature’ and he collaborated with Timberland to produce ‘Wetin Dey Sup. He has also produced other chart-topping songs for other Nigerian artists like “Abule” by Patoranking and is already being hailed as a potential producer of the year.
8. Nissi
“Nissi” Ogulu is also Burna Boy’s sister and she was signed into spaceship records in 2019 where she released two singles titled: Trouble & Tornado off her ‘Ignite’ EP in December of the same year.
Nissi went on to release her on-going critically-acclaimed EP titled ‘Ignite’ on July 31st, 2020, and the lead single which was titled “Judi” was a viral sensation.
9. Buju
On April 2020, Spaceship records signed Buju into the label where his first hit single which was a remix to Buju’s Lenu featuring Burna Boy. Buju has also featured on many successful singles and is currently working on a body of work that is slated for release later this year.
